New Mineral Collective – Point Cloud Therapy

New Mineral Collective (NMC) is a platform that explores the contemporary landscape and tries to understand the extent of human interaction with the earth’s surface. NMC infiltrates the existing global economic systems with acts of counter prospecting. These acts are realized through performances, films, and sculptures.

NMC will present parts of a film trilogy (Hollow Earth and ROBO SHE) and VR experience, offering an act of counter prospecting in the form of healing therapy and sensory experience, healing the wounds of the post-industrial landscape through a type of acupuncture: Point Clouds.

Point clouds are a set of data points in a coordinate system that are used for 3D scanning when determining virtual spaces. In Point Cloud Acupuncture, the VR pierces the viewer as the rendered graphics provide the effect of points entering and perforating the body while the visitor reclines on virtual spa furniture created by the artists.
